For now im using dial up linking with my PC and with a modem istalled but how about BROADBAND internet? Is modem still be used for broadband internet or what? pls help. thnx in advance. ;)

No. Broadband will use another kind of modem.
It will connect the cable to the ethernet port on your computer, (assuming you have one). An ethernet port looks like a buzz jack, except that it has 8 possible wire connections instead of 4.
Despite what you may be given when you sign up, you should consider purchasing a firewall appliance to go between your computer and the broadband modem, (or to substitute for the broadband modem).
A firewall appliance will help keep hackers from taking over your computer. Of course, all other anti-virus/anti-spyware precautions are effectively recommened as well.
