You have need of an internet connection connected to a wireless access point - that's usually done with a modem connected to a wireless router.
On the computer side, you need a wireless adapter and the driver that it comes with. And a computer with the genius to connect to a network, of course - Windows, Linux, Mac-OS.
That's about it. You can eliminate the first part if you're using a wifi hotspot (like Starbucks or a B & B).
