Air NZ Cup: Super Saturday preview TVNZ
28.08.09
TAB Odds: Counties Manukau $3.30, Waikato $1.30
Waikato guide Chris Gibbs will have been awfully relieved this
week to learn that he will be able to call upon the services of two
returning All Blacks. Halfback Brendon Leonard and first
five-eighth Stephen Donald will prosper their first appearances for
their province this Saturday and it couldn't come soon enough.
With only the solitary win from the opening four rounds of the
striving and sitting on the bottom of the table, Waikato will be
reaching for the panic button should they lose again. Counties on
the other hand are also in not much better image, just above
Waikato in 13th spot.
So it's must win for both sides. Waikato's attack has been
lethargic so far this season averaging fitting 15 points a game. While
Counties have been poor on defence conceding on average 35 points a
prospect. The stats speak for themselves, showing why both sides are
camped on the bottom rungs of the ladder.
Waikato will be without All Blacks winger Sitiveni Sivivatu who
is back in Fiji on yield, and No.8 Sione Lauaki, who remains
injured.
