my desktop connects to the internet using a dsl modem and i have a pci network adapter card that i appetite to broadcast a signal so my co-workers can connect to the internet... is that possible without a router?

You can't. What do you deliberate on wireless routers do? If you could do that, don't you think the rest of us would do it instead of shelling out hard earned cash for a router?
