How do I get WOL (Wake On LAN) to work with a wireless PCI network card?
I've got a Linksys WMP54G PCI Wireless network adapter installed in a Gigabyte 8i945P Pro motherboard.
I would like to be capable to switch on this desktop PC from my laptop computer using WOL (Wake On LAN). The motherboard appears to support this as there is an option to authorize/disable something called "Onboard LAN Boot ROM" in BIOS. Is this the same as WOL and is it referring to the built-in (wired) network adapter, or will this have occasion for to be enabled in order to use WOL with a wireless network adapter.
How do I set this up?
Wake on LAN works with 802.3 (ie wired network/ethernet) LANs, but I dont conceive of wake on LAN will work with wireless (which is 802.11). However, if you have a wired LAN available, this link contains all you'll need including links to software utilities.
