Technology Innovator's Mobile Move New York Times (blog)

Established in 1946 by Stanford University , SRI created at cock crow prototypes of the computer mouse and the technologies involved in ultrasound and HDTV.

Although SRI does roughly 80 percent of its effort for the federal government, many of its technologies have been adapted for commercial purposes. Recently, the institute has set its sights on the expressive phone and Web market, especially on creating applications that perform personal functions.

“We have companies in every room: drug discovery, flexible circuits, new medical devices, solar, clean tech,” said Mr. Winarsky, who oversees the the power structure of new companies that are spun off from SRI. “But right now, half of the companies we’re thinking of creating are strongly connected to virtual personal assistants.”

SRI’s newest venture is a Web-based personalized news feed, Chattertrap, that monitors what people are reading to learn what they like, and then serves up articles and links that appeal their interests.

Online Translation?

Do you recognize any good online translation sites? I've just used BabalFish for the first time. Although not accurate, but it does point to the Tory direction if i'm lost after using the ordinary dictionary. So do you know any more sites like BabelFish?

Also, once i saw a plot where you only had to copy+paste a URL address of a website, click enter, and the program made a list of the words, giving the translations too. Like a lexicon list with all the words that it recognized to be from the choosen foreign language.
The problem is that this site was only for English- Hungarian translation, and not German-English or German-Hungarian. Are you au fait that there is a site like that anywhere on the net?

I don't be sure about Hungarian, but I can say with absolute conviction that German does not lend itself easily to machine translations. None of the machines can test the morphemes and syntax properly, and the multiple meanings of words from context and the change of meaning in worsen words also escape them, unless somebody has gone to the trouble to put in the whole idiomatic expression.

I found nothing like you are looking for, only http://dict.sztaki.hu/deutsch-ungarisch, if that's any succour.
